As if it’s the end of January! We can’t believe how quickly this month has flown by, but it means one step closer to drier, and hopefully, warmer weather!
It also means that our Steps 4 Strays fundraiser starts tomorrow. Throughout the four weeks of February, we will collectively be walking 4 million steps, raising money for the fantastic Wonky Pets. There are nine of us on the team who regularly walk, and we’re currently hitting about half a million steps a day, we’re looking to double that!
We worked out this is the approximate distance between Lands End and John O’Groats four times… We’d be so grateful for anything you can possibly donate and thanks already to those who have donated. Head over to our Just Giving page and follow our progress on Facebook and Instagram.

Elli’s Wonderpup
This week I have picked Sky. Sky has only joined the family this month but she has slotted in so well! Initially, Sky was a little nervous of travelling, and it would take a lot of persuading to get her in the car. Over the last couple of weeks, she has realised that the car = fun times and has leapt straight in raring to go. Sky gets on well with everyone and this week made a new BFF in her Husky friend, Loki. It’s so nice to see Sky come out of her shell, keep up the good work girl!
Tracey’s Wonderpup
My Wonderpup is Suzie. Suzie is always a good girl, she fits into any group and she decides what sort of a walk she wants. Sometimes she spends her time with her nose to the ground and other times, she races around playing chase. We had a new dog start with us this week, a very nervous rescue, who hadn’t been socialised, so a very special member of the RDW team was needed and I knew just who to choose. In true Suzie style she stepped up to the plate and showed the new girl the ropes, she welcomed her with open paws and the pair had a great time. Thank you Suzie for your assistance this week, you were a great help
Chloe2’s Wonderpup
You may recognise this face from our newsletter but I just had to pick Lola as Wonderpup! She has been politely tolerating her role model dogs for the past few weeks, getting used to them on walks. This week it was all change. She had so much confidence and decided to join in with the play and enjoyed running around with her new friend, having lots of fun in the snow!
Anna’s Wonderpup
Yogi is my Wonderpup this week. I have been walking Yogi for quite some time now and he never puts a paw wrong with me, so I decided he deserved a little recognition. Yogi is a very relaxed, calm, independent and loving boy who loves to be out with his friends sniffing around. He has best friends that he enjoys playing with and is a great travel companion. I love the cuddles he gives me every time we see each other.
Jess’s Wonderpup
My Wonderpup this week is Jade. I have known Jade since she was a little baby and she came to our puppy classes in the summer. We’ve been waiting her to start her walks to start her socialising with other dogs as she hasn’t been able to make many friends in lockdown. Jade has always been a little bit nervous of meeting new people and new dogs. I was expecting to have to introduce her slowly into groups but she has done SO well.
She has been brave, calm and confident on her walks so far and she is making me so proud! She has been so good we even used her as a role model last week for little Hughie! Jade’s recall is always amazing and she is always happy to have cuddle at the end of her walk. You are a little super star Jade, keep up the good work!
Chloe’s Wonderpup
I’m picking Narla as my Wonderpup this week. I have been the one predominantly walking Narla since she started and it’s been so nice to see her improvement. I am always greeted with a very excitable lady raring to go and race around with her many friends. Although friends and having fun are her top priority, Narla has impeccable recall and will be the first to come back and wait patiently by my side. She will consciously have one eye on you at all times and will come check in throughout the walk. She’s a happy, loving ball of energy and a true sweetheart. We love you Narla bear!
Sophie’s Wonderpup
My Wonderpup of the week is Teddy! Ted and I joined the RDW family at a similar time, I can’t remember a time without him. He is one of the smallest floofs of the family but with a Great Dane size amount of confidence. He can be heard singing a duet with his buddy Rex in the car, he loves to explore and, of course, enjoys a good razz around on our Tuesday outings. Ted may be one of the younger members but the RDW name suits him well!
Ashleigh’s Wonderpup
This week my Wonderpup is Crystal. Crystal is such a loving and affectionate girl. She loves to race around with the rest of the group but always heads back over for a cuddle, standing on her hind legs reaching up to you for some love. And who doesn’t love a cuddle in the rain and snow we’ve been having lately!? Her recall is great, she plays so well with her group and stands beautifully to be dried at the end of the walk. Crystal you really are a gem keep up the good work!
