We love to do our bit for charity but obviously with the pandemic, we’ve been unable to do our usual fundraising efforts of fun days and charity events. We think it’s really important that we support rescue centres who do such an amazing job in saving and rehoming not just dogs, other animals too.
So, we thought why not raise money doing the only thing we can do in lockdown… walking! Throughout February we will be getting our march on, and collectively walking 4 million steps.
That’s from Lands End to John O’Groats and back, TWICE.
Between the 9 of us, we currently do around 500,000 steps a week, so we’re looking to double that and raise money while we do it.
We’re raising money for the incredible Wonky Pets. they are a fabulous local rescue and Tracy who runs the rescue is always helping us out with hard to place dogs, she never says no and will always help where she can. Wonky Pets take a lot of our local dogs who have ended up as strays or neglect cases, who come in very poorly, terrified and abused.
Here are a few of the cases that Wonky Pets has helped recently.
Scampy
This lovely older Border Collie was found covered in infected sores and was skin and bone! He was picked up as a local stray and Wonky Pets helped to get him better and place him in a fab new home!
Batina
Batina was taken in by Worcestershire dog warden. She’s 17 years old, virtually blind and is deaf. She had a mouth full of rotten teeth and was total skin and bone when taken in. Wonky Pets helped get Batina better, taking all her teeth out and now she has gained a third of her body weight! She’s the happiest little thing and will be looking for a home soon
Polly
This lovely Cockerpoo, Polly, was found locally abandoned and terrified in very poor condition and totally broken. She is most likely to be an ex puppy farm dog as she has clearly had litters of puppies and not much human contact. She went to Wonky Pets and although still petrified of people she is absolutely loving her new doggy friends. Polly will be rehomed eventually once she has gone through rehab and is a little bit more confident!
As you can see, Wonky Pets does amazing things to help rescue and rehabilitate animals. This is why we want to raise some money to help fund their vets and rehoming bills.
We know January is a tough month, but whatever you can spare will be gratefully received – a little can go a long way!
