This morning I have been out on a training walk with Brian, Duke and their Mom and Dad!
When I first went to see them a couple of months ago they explained they weren’t able to take the dogs out together as Brian was so worked up and reactive it was too stressful. Their Dad ended up taking the dogs out on his own separately and their Mom only felt confident enough to walk Duke on her own, they said they wanted to walk together again and get back to enjoying family walks.
Over the last couple of months we have been working together, they have a training plan for when walking him at home and every couple of weeks I would walk Brian on his own, then introduced Duke, then introduced their Mom and now today all 4 of them have a nice calm walk together around the Lake, an area they can’t actually remember the last time they visited together as it was too hectic before!
This is what I live for, honestly, I love it when families work together with their babies and get to a point they are more happy and relaxed when out and about and start enjoying their walks and enjoying being with their dogs! Their Mom even messaged me last night to say she had taken both dogs out on her own and it went well! I love that!!
We even finished the walk with an off the lead run around with Max who they hadn’t met before, this was another aim they wanted to achieve to see how Brian would react when off lead with another dog!
This isn’t the end of the road, this is actually just the start, there will still be days when they go out and have a nightmare walk, I sometimes have those days myself but they know that they are capable of enjoying these walks together and the end is in sight!!
