Alongside the day-to-day running of our business Redditch Dog Walking, we spend most of our spare time (and all of our spare money!) on making sure every animal gets a fair shot at life. From the standard re-homing of unwanted pets, to rehoming stray cats/dogs, to the more complex cases, like our most recent addition Oatie, we strongly believe that every life deserves chance to thrive.
Our founders, Jess & Luke, fund all of the rescue work themselves – whether that be flea/worming treatments, neutering before rehoming (or with a neutering contract!) or more complex cases which involve scans, blood tests and specialised care – everything is covered by Jess and Luke themselves. Whilst we are by no means large enough to warrant full charity registration process, (mainly due to the costs incurred with registering), the work that goes on in ensuring all of the babies get the perfect furever homes along with Rescue Back-Up for life is something that does not come cheaply. We started fundraising a couple of years back, hosting Charity Dog Walks, Raffles, Breed Specific Meet-Ups along with various other events such as our Birthday Party 3 years ago – all of the money we raise goes straight towards our ever growing vet bills and supporting the animals within our care, some of them who are permanent additions to the Taylor-Jones household due to it not being possible to rehome them due their medical condition.
Back in 2024 our rescue work really picked up and almost became an additional full time “job”. With the help of our wonderful team and network of fabulous supporters we managed to foster and rehome 71 animals (largely cats and dogs). In 2025, we had hoped the rescue world would take a turn for the better but literally in the first week of the new year we already had our first foster animals in – and the year did not slow down. 2025 watched us foster and rehome 100 animals. Unfortunately 2026 is set to be much of the same, but we will never sit by and watch an innocent life be wasted.
Some of you following our story will have seen our most recent special addition, who will live out her short but beautiful life with us, Oatie. We were contacted by our vet team who had seen this gorgeous girl as the breeder wasn’t happy that everything was well – and boy were they right. Given the unknown implications at the time the breeder was more than happy to wash their hands of this wonderful puppy, but whilst our vets believed there to be a solid chance at life, we stepped in and immediately took her under our wings. Oatie’s foster sister, Rory, absolutely dotes on her and isn’t phased by having to bath her multiple times a day to help keep her coat clean due to her leaking bladder – safe to say she is following in Mom Jess’ footprints! Whilst we have now got some firmer understanding of what lies ahead for Oatie, we will not give up on her, whilst she is pain free and able to enjoy a “normal” life (minus the leaky bladder) we absolutely will ensure she has every opportunity that every other puppy her age should get – and that is where we are asking for your help and support. This little girl will need monthly blood tests to ensure her organs are coping and that she is not in any hidden pain. Along with the costs of the continuous supply of puppy pads, doggy nappies and inevitably later on, medication, it all adds up.
We also have our gorgeous boy Banana living with us now and undergoing some investigative work as we believe he may be in some pain, which is potentially the underlying reason for some of his “unruly behaviour”. We know our boy has a heart of gold though and would never intentionally set out to cause harm – he is the perfect companion around our “farm yard” behaving like a slightly oversized Puppy himself!
Oatie is just one case we have at the moment who is requiring additional support, along with failed-foster brother’s Siri and Banana, but we would never deny them the opportunity to LIVE!
