Dog Walking in the sunshine

So Thursday was another scorcher which meant another early start for this dog walker and lots of swimming lessons breaking up our dog walking.

Willow, Skye, Barkley and Buster started our dog walks off us Astwood Bank and they are already all water babies so they were more than happy to dive into any stream or pond we passed on our travels and have a play but Cleo takes a little more convincing. She is getting there though she will have her front two paws in to cool her off, being around the other dogs helps her build up her confidence without any help from me so this is when the dog training is in the hands of the dogs and I can be left to dog walking.

Next out this morning were Max, Max and Minnie and we were joined by Hugo down Bordsley Meadows near Forge Mill. Again the boys are water babies so were happily running in and out of the water having a swim AND Minnie is so brave now she ran in and lay straight down not worried about getting her fur wet. Lexi is definitely rubbing off on her ? this is one of my favourite things about dog walking, watching dogs grow in confidence with help from the other dogs.

Late morning we had the shorter mini (puppy) dog walking down near Forge mill again as its nice and cool for the dogs walking along the river, Missy and Marla were joined by new girl Lola who fitted in perfectly with them! Missy is fearless and dives into any water she sees and Lola and Marla just followed her lead! Not sure it could really be classed as a dog walk though as they spent most of their time on their backs rolling around playing with each other ?.

Then on our next dog walk we had pretty much every working breed you could think of labrador, pointer and spaniels. Missy, Kaiser, Betsie, Hollie and Freddie – goes without saying I couldn’t get this lot out the water – they all fully submerged theirselves and were happy splashing around, even baby Freddie once again much more dog swimming than dog walking.

My final dog walk of the day was with gorgeous Alfie who can’t resist a swim on the coldest of days so we spent the majority of our time walking up the stream in the woods. He was in and out of there like a yoyo bless him ?, he is such a lovely calm boy, the perfect way to end busy day of dog walking.

I don’t know how they do it but they always remember the individual needs/likes/dislikes of every dog and treat them all with love (even when they are a bit naughty and run off 😬).

We have so much confidence with Ellis taking our boy out daily and are so grateful for how much she cares for him like we do!  We have had one on one training with Jess which was invaluable with our dog being reactive on lead.  We didn’t feel belittled at all and had the most useful information and help that we use daily.
