We thought we’d finish the year with a special, bumper-sized Wonderpups! Each of the Redditch Dog Walking team has selected a pup who has been walking with us in 2020 who we have been so impressed by. We’d like to think of ourselves as not ‘just’ dog walkers. We work very hard to help improve dogs’ behaviour as well as getting them socialised so that they can live the most fun, fulfilling lives!
The dogs we have picked for Wonderpup of the year are fur babies who have shown massive improvement. This could be anything such as being upgraded from individual walks to group walks, or been able to lose the long line or even have completely come out of their shell!
So, let’s get started with the final Wonderpups of 2020….
Anna’s Wonderpup of the year
My Wonderpup of the year is our little Rosie! Rosie started with us as a little baby who could never stay still. She was always jumping around and diving up everyone she met, although she wanted to play with the others she was very nervous and spent a lot of time around my feet. Over this last year Rosie has grown so much in confidence. She is always the first to run and play with all the dogs she is with, she encourages all the newbies to join in and is always friendly as calm with them. Her recall and manners are perfect these days and she honestly never puts a foot wrong! She is a total sweetheart and I am so, so proud of how much she has grown this year! Way to go little RosiePosy.
Chloe’s Wonderpup of the year
I think we can all agree that Sasha has come such a long way this year. At first, Sasha was only on walks with her bestie Penny and, although they had the best time together, we wanted to try introducing them both into groups separately. Sasha has done so, so well since we have reintroduced her into groups and we are all so proud of her. She plays with everyone nicely and is always making new friends (especially the boys 😉). Her lead reactive behaviour has gone totally and she greets newbies with open paws. At one point, we had to put jiggle bells on Sasha’s collar so we could hear her! She was always racing around the the bushes and refusing to come back when called. But, those days are long gone, she ALWAYS stays with the group and her recall is fab. Sasha is a perfect example for all our newbies! Well done Sashy Pants, we cannot believe the difference a year has made!
Ashleigh’s Wonderpup of the Year
Ashleigh’s Wonderpup of the year is Flo. Despite the fact that Flo is still relatively new to the RDW family, I just had to choose her! Every week, I have seen a massive improvement in her and I wanted to give her some recognition! Flo started with us as a little baby for her puppy socialising session. She started as a nervous girl who wanted to join in with the puppy play but was a bit too shy. Over the weeks she has become more and more confident and absolutely loves her walks. Flo is the first to dive in for playtime and race around in the lead waiting for everyone to chase her! She also is the first to welcome any new puppies to the gang and take them under her wing. We are all super proud of you already FloJo and can’t wait to watch you grow up.
Sophie’s Wonderpup of the Year
My Wonderpup of the year has to be Velcro. Velly started with us as a nervous girl who was reactive towards other dogs when out walking. She was very specific with who she wanted to be friends with. Since Velly has been coming out on her walks, she has blossomed into a social butterfly who is happy to be friends with anyone and everyone! Initially, Velly was nervous to come out with me, but these days she flies out the house and is so happy to see me when I come to collect her. She absolutely loves her walks, her friends and especially her BFF Darcy! Well done Velly, we are so proud of how far you have come in a fairly short space of time.
Elli’s Wonderpup of the Year
Lulu, wow what can I say? I cannot believe the difference this year has made to you. From your first walks with me being a nervous wreck, (rightly so after such a tragic experience), to being the playful and happy girl you are now! Lulu used to be terrified of all other dogs. She would try to climb my leg whenever there was another dog nearby. Now, after a lot of patience and slowly building her up to being around other dogs, she’s completely turned a corner. Now, Lulu has met countless other dogs on our walks. We’ve combined walks with other walkers and she takes the whole thing in her stride. Lulu has even started to play with other dogs like Reggie and her BFF Beagle Maggie. I am so proud of the girl and cannot shout loud enough about her achievements this year. Well done Loopy Lu.
Jess’s Wonderpup of the Year
Jess’ Wonderpup of the year is our wonderful Maggie! I honestly cannot believe the change in Maggie this year. When we first met her, she was so nervous. It took multiple meetings to get her out the house and months of her gradually meeting the team and keeping her distance when out. I will never forget the first time we all watched her race around the field with the other dogs and we were all so proud of her! Then, each time she came out she would start to approach the rest of the team and gradually let us stroke her. These days, she races out the house with any one of us and will bound over and floor us in the field just to cover us in kisses! She is so popular with all the dogs and always in the middle of the fun. Maggie is usually found racing around with her besties Vera and Kobi. We are so proud of how far you have come this year MagsBags GladRags, our little brave heart!
Tracey’s Wonderpup of the Year
Tracey’s Wonderpup of the year is Lexi. Lexi has come such a long way since the first day we met her. Lexi was very nervous and reactive with both people and other dogs. Her initial meetings started with lots of visits and walks with her owners to build up her confidence. Very slowly we introduced her to other dogs and started to take her out for walkies without her owners. Over the last year Lexi has grown and grown in confidence. She flies out the house and into the truck now. Lexi has so many friends who she happily races around and around with and this year has even allowed me to dress her up for Halloween and Christmas! She makes me so proud every week and I can’t believe just how far she has come and how much she has grown in confidence. Well done LexiLou we are so impressed with you baby girl!
Adam’s Wonderpup of the Year
Adam’s Wonderpup of the year is Eva. Eva has done incredibly well in 2020. She started the first couple of months of the year on individual walks but slowly over the year we have introduced her to different dogs. Now, she has so many best friends these days and we are so proud of how far she has come. We originally thought she would only want to be friends with male dogs but she has proved us wrong again and has her own little girl gang with Penny, Mabel and Nelly! We are so, so proud of how far you have come this year and nothing makes us happier than seeing you race around with your friends. Well done Eva Believer.
