Another scorching hot week meant we had to take extra precautions to ensure the dogs kept cool and avoided the midday sun! When the weather is like this, we shift our walks around and try to get out as early as possible.
Some dogs who require lunch time walks were swapped to popins, ensuring they weren’t in the heat of the day but still getting the visits and attention needed. When we are walking in this heat, we use our field which has shaded areas and plenty of access to the river.

Jess’s Wonderpup
Minnie is my Wonderpup this week! Minnie started as a training client as she was showing lead reactive behaviour. We carefully introduced her to other dogs and she has been perfect since her first walk. Despite being nervous initially she took everything in her stride and has grown and grown with confidence every week, in 3 weeks we are at a point where she is even initiating play with the other dogs now! We are so proud of you Minnie, you have come so far already and you are such a kind and gentle soul – we love you.
Tracey’s Wonderpup
Hollie is my wonderpup this week. Hollie can be a sensitive soul. She is all keen to come out of the house for a walk but then she has to be encouraged to go into the car, once in she travels fine. She is such a good girl on a walk, not a moment’s trouble and loves all the other dogs. This week it was her birthday, but not on a walk day, but don’t worry Hollie I’ll make sure all your friends know for Thursday and you can celebrate with them then!
Elli’s Wonderpup
This week, I’ve picked Bailey as my Wonderpup. Bailey is a young Spaniel (part otter) who is full of beans! He is always so happy to see me and is very excited to go out and see his friends. Recently, Bailey has been helping one of our rescue dogs gain confidence and gently playing with her, showing her the ropes. Bailey’s recall is absolutely amazing, and he never puts a foot wrong, thanks for always making me smile on a Friday!
Anna’s Wonderpup
My Wonderpup this week is Bruce. When I first started taking Bruce for a walk he was quite shy around other dogs. He used to stay close to me, and would mainly just have a sniff around the bushes. With time, Bruce got more and more confident and gained lots of new friends. Now he’s the life of the party, and loves to be surrounded by his pals regardless of their size. Last walk, we bumped into Chloe and Jess with their groups and even though it was the first time for Bruce to be introduced to so many new dogs all at once, he stayed positive and confident and had the best time. He is a little star!
Chloe’s Wonderpup
I have chosen Hector and Hudson as my Wonderpups this week because I have seen a big change in their behaviour since starting with us. Both of these boys have nailed their recall and are coming back to me without called to check in. They are always keeping an eye on where I am. It’s so lovely to see them now recognise me (and the car) and associate it with a good time. I feel like they have really connected with us now and it makes my Fridays watching them bound around. Well done boys, keep it up!
