Tuesday’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My pup of the year is Dougie🩵
I haven’t been walking Dougie for long but I have seen a HUGE change in him.
When I first met Dougie he was very nervous and reactive, it was horrible to see him so unsure and worried.
He stuck with me and my silly voices to make him feel better and now he is like a new dog.
He loves his walks, has made loads of new four legged friends and even a bestie in me😊
I think Dougie is fabulous and will continue to be the best dog he can be🥰
Well done Dougie💚
Tracey’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

Having been with RDW for 6 years, I always find the last two wonderpups of the year, so difficult to choose, as some of these pups have been with me since day one
But
I have chosen Red as my most improved wonderpup for 2024
This choice is because in February this year, I sat on a kitchen floor with Red, waiting for her pawrents to come home to take her to the vets as she couldn’t stand and was in a sorry state
I said goodbye to Red that morning when I helped her dad , carry to the car.
I genuinely believed I wouldn’t see her again 💔 A few tears were shed that day 😭
It turned out Red had had a stroke
But, as the lyrics go, “You can’t keep a good dog down” and madam wasn’t having any of it
Having spent a few hours in the vets on some amazing drugs, Red tried to discharge herself
Her pawrents collected her and a few months later, the trauma of that day was a distant memory
Red miraculously bounced back in true Labrador fashion and has continued to improve month in month out
Mitch’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

Annual wonderpup is the gorgeous Mabel! When I first went out to this girly she was a nervous wreck, honestly took me and mom about 15 minutes to get her out the house 😫
After a few weeks we started seeing a huge improvement in her willingness to come out for play time 🙌🏼 fast forward to now she’s a different dog, she absolutely loves coming on her walkies 😍 she greets every dog and most humans she sees with the happiest face and waggy tail 🫶🏼
Mabel I absolutely adore you missy and I’m beyond proud of you and your progress, biggest love from uncle Mitch 💙💙
Jess’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

Mabel is my most improved wonderpup of the year this year. When I first met Mable she had a little “spicy” side to her and although she was always on her bestest behaviour on her walks we did have to monitor who she went walking with to make sure we only brought out her positive side. These days that careful monitoring of who she would be out with are a thing of the past and I can genuinely put her with anyone and everyone and she is besties with them all. Well done my gorgeous girl, I am always so proud of you MabelBabel 💗
Eathan’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

When i first met Mabel, she was nervous and very shy. After working with Mabel, i have seen her character shine, when i go and see her, she greets me with excitement jumps and kisses, she now walks fluently without many stops. She is less wary of her surroundings and she is open to fuss and cuddles! Mabel has really improved on her anxiety, she brings so much joy to my day when i see her bouncing up the path as we begin our walk. She is such a beautiful girl and she is a pleasure to walk💗
Shannon’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved dog is Kipper!
Kipper has been with us since puppy socialisation. He was a shy dog who hated to travel in the car. He would often request a carry from Shannon. A year on Kipper is now the most confident dog in his group. He plays with anyone so nicely, and especially anyone who will love the chase! His recall is continuing to progress. At pickup we no longer protest, he is so excited to come out and hops right in the car with no more drooly car rides! Kipper is a pleasure to walk, and watching him grow in confidence has been amazing. Well done Kipper! 🥰
Lauren’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

Uzi is my most improved pup of 2024!
This was a very hard decision but I feel as though this goofy boy deserves some recognition.
When I started with Uzi, he didn’t like to listen very well, and he would also have the occasional growl at the other males in the group and I always had to keep one eye on him and what he was up to.
Fast forward to now, he’s an absolute dream to be around and he’s my little sidekick. Since being neutered, he listens to me so well and he’s even graduated from having a long line! He follows me back at the end of the walk when it’s time to go home and comes bouncing over when I call his name ‘uziii wuziii’ 🤣
He has such a goofy personality, and he has so much love to give. Absolutely everyone that sees him loves him instantly, including all of his girlfriends!
I’m really proud of you Uz. Seeing you blossom has been one of the highlights of my year. Thank you! ❤️
Megan’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved pup is Rory ❤️ Rory has came a long way from our first walks together and I feel we now have a really strong bond 🥰 when he is scared or unsure he’ll always look to me for reassurance and he’s recall has came on leaps and bounds ⭐️ when I first started walking Rory he wouldn’t want to leave the house and was scared of his own shadow while on his walk. He now waits for me in the window and rushes to the door with excitement 😆 Rory enjoys he’s walk and has became very playful. He loves the freedom of being in big open spaces and makes the most of it wizzing around, he has the best action shots when there not too blurry 😂
Becky’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved wonder pup of the year is our Ted. The first time we met Ted he was very cautious of humans and other dogs. He had to be coaxed away from home into his little safety bag and tended to either want to stay in his bag or mooch around the walk on his own, heading back to his bag as soon as he got nervous. Just a few months down the line Ted started to trust us to keep him safe and he really is enjoying his walks! Ted has made lots of friends and doesn’t go running back to his bag if a bigger dog comes over. He spends the entire walk sniffing or zooming around now. I think the picture says it all. He happily comes away from home although still in his bag he jumps straight in to come out to play, but does stop off and rolls over to have a tummy rub before jumping in. He is very well loved by us all ! Well done Ted we are very proud of you and you are a pleasure to have on our walks. We we can’t wait for more fun next year. Love you lots 🥰🥰🥰
Katharine’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved Wonderpup of the year is the wonderful Watson! I think it is safe to say that the Watson I know now is a completely different dog to the Watson I first met just over a year ago. He wasn’t that keen on me or the other dogs or water or mud or rain, which was unfortunate as we live in England 😂 I would hold onto his long lead and he would just trot along quietly. In the time that I have known him this darling boy has come on so much that it makes my heart swell with pride. With a little patience, a lot of love and A LOT of treats he grew to trust me. Trust me when I said not to worry about the others, not to worry about the slippery slopes and not to worry about crossing the stream. Slowly but surely his confidence has blossomed and now he runs towards the stream, marches through the mud and runs round with his friends with such gusto he is a joy to behold!
I am just so pleased and so proud and so full of love for this tenacious little fella 🥹💖 I couldn’t be without him!
Sarah’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved Wonderpup on the year is Benji ❤️ I adore this little guy and he is the sweetest little soul! When I first started walking Benji last year, although he would always be happy to see me, he was sometimes a little shy around the other dogs when we arrived at our walk and was a little apprehensive of any new members of the pack – especially if they were excitable. However, over the past 12 months, Benji has really come out of his shell and although he still prefers to do his own thing, he is so much braver and really isn’t bothered by anyone anymore! 🐾 He really gets involved in the walk and has the best time doing his thing and exploring the fields! He has many friends which he enjoys spending his walk with, including; Murphy, Luna, Charlie and Rocky and it’s lovely to see him so comfortable around them. You would never believe he’s 10 years old and acts like an excited little puppy at times 🥰 Well done Benji you always brighten up my Wednesdays and here’s to many more adventures together ♥️
Fran’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved Wonderpup has to be Bramble. I have walked this super girly for around a year, she was a big puppy when I first met her and has now grown into a wonderful young lady that listens (most of the time 🤣) and is all round a lovely doggo to be around. She will sit, bring a ball back and is definitely doing better with her recall on the longline. She’s super friendly with other dogs and LOVES making new friends on our daily walkies and in a group setting. I’m super proud of you Miss B 💖 Well done!! 🐾
Becky’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

This year my most improved wonderpup is the beautiful Elsie.
I have been walking Elsie for quite a while now and I absolutely adore her 🤗 she comes out with me a couple times a week on group walks. She used to be quite nervous to leave the house to go on her walk’s especially with new walkers. But her confidence has grown loads and when she hears my voice she jumps up onto the sofa asking for some fuss and then it’s all waggy tails when she leaves the house. She’s also been out with a couple of different walkers whilst I’ve been away and she has been great! She is such a character and she never fails to put a smile on my face🥰she loves zooming around the fields in and out of all the bushes and always comes back to me when I call her. Well done Elsie here’s to loads more walks together 💜
Rosie’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

This year my most improved has been already chosen for a while – it has to go to the cutest boy Murphy. When Murphy first joined us he was super nervous of everything and all the other dogs. He would take quite a bit of persuasion to come out into the van, he would stay clear of the other dogs and would roll over if any came near. Thought plenty of reassurance, treats, love and trust he now loves nothing more than his Monday walkies! He sits waiting for me in the window and his mum tells me he knows exactly when it is RDW day🥳He greets me with the waggiest bum and drags me to the van. He leads the way on all his walks and loves rolling around and playing with the other dogs, running with the biggest smile on his face. I am so incredibly proud of him everytime I see him playing so nicely and being his most confident self🩵Well done Murphy it’s been such a pleasure to watch your confidence grow!
Ellis’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved pup this year is Alfie! When I first started walking Alfie, his mum Sue warned me about his snappiness towards others dogs and how sometimes he can get himself into trouble, and for the first few weeks Alfie did not enjoy being around the other dogs and would often tell them off for being near him! However now I can honestly say Alfie is up there with one of my most reliable dogs! Though walking him he I how now gained his trust and therefore his confidence around the other dogs has grown. He loves to run around with his brother Archie and even plays wonderfully some of the other pups! Not only has Alfie’s temperament done a 180 but his recall is honestly some of the best iv seen! I’m so proud of Alfie, and glad to have witnessed him become his best self! 🩵🥰
Sally Anne’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

Molly10 is my most improved wonderpup of the year!
Molly has not long joined the RDW team. She started off a little nervous but with lots of encouragement she has really started to come out of her shell. Molly now loves to have a race around in the field with her new found pals who all adore her. We’re super proud of the confident young lady you are now becoming and can’t wait to watch you grow up! Keep up the awesome work lovely girl

Miang’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

This year, I’ve chosen Zero as my most improved wonderpup, and what an incredible journey it’s been in the short time we’ve been walking together! When we first started, Zero could get a bit overstimulated, but with patience and consistency, he’s made remarkable progress. He’s become more comfortable and calm. We still have some things to work on but I’m confident we can continue moving forward. Thanks Zero you are an absolute gem!
Katie’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

MOST IMPROVED WONDERPUP 2024
My most improved Wonderpup of 2024 is Dylan – he has come on in (sometimes literal) leaps and bounds since I first started walking him. We still have a lot to work on but he’s such a clever boy and has made so much progress in such a short amount of time I can’t wait to see how far he has come by this time next year. Well done Dylan, keep being your glorious cheeky self and I can’t wait for more adventures with you and to see you continue to improve in 2025 🥰🐾🫶🏼
Connie’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

For my most improved wonderpup, I had to have a long think as all of my dogs are already so good!! 🐾❤️But I’m the past two weeks I’ve had a massive achievement with one of my adorable pups: Bruce!!🎉💙 Bruce loves his Friday puppy social class, always playing nicely with his friends, greeting me with a big cuddle at the door however there was one part that Bruce was not a fan of: the van. 🚐I would have to carry Bruce to the van each week but, like a Christmas miracle🎄, Bruce has not needed to be encouraged.🥰🐶 In fact in the past two weeks I have been dragged by Bruce to the van!! Well Done Bruce!! I’m so proud💕🥰
Toni’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

Toni and Ellie choose Pip for most improved
Pip started her journey with us as a very anxious girl, who would hide behind our legs if she saw another dog. She was nervous of new people, didn’t like to run along side us or play, she wouldn’t even accept treats of us!
However, with consistency, praise and tonnes of encouragement, Pip’s confidence is starting to grow. She enjoys her walks, loves to run along side us at the field and is even showing interest at what other dogs are up too. Whilst she is still too nervous to join in playing with other dogs, just being comfortable in the same area as them is a huge step forward for her. And she loves a treat off us now too!
Plus she’s an absolute darling and gives 10/10 cuddles ❤️
Kate’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved dog of the year goes to Bleu! Bleu was a new dog to RDW at the start of this year when I was also a newbie; cheeky, playful, tonnes of energy but with no boundaries towards the other dogs and myself 🙈. Fast forward to the end of 2024, Bleu a cheeky chappy who absolutely loves to play but he is now respectful of other dogs who aren’t quite so boisterous as him and he just a lovely, well mannered boy all round with bags of personality! Well done my Bleu Boy, let’s keep it up in 2025 💙💙
Chloe’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved wonderpup of the year is our gorgeous Paddy aka Knick Knack Padddywhack. I am so proud of how far this boy has come, both out walking and at home.
It’s fair to say Pad is a little anxious soul however this year he has come out of his shell and gone from strength to strength to prove to everyone that hard work and consistency really does pay off.
Paddy’s is fabulous to lead walk, travel and recall which were things that were sometimes a struggle at the start of this year. He is an asset to my group walks and now is setting a positive example for other pooches. It has been such a pleasure to watch you develop this year and I’m one very proud Auntie Chlo. Keep being the good energy into 2025!
Adam’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved Wonderpup of the year is Bear.
Bear has recently started with us and although he slotted straight into the actual group walks and has thrived, traveling in a noisy car with strange dogs has been a new experience for him.
I always have new dogs travel on their own in the car so i can see how they settle.
I have subsequently built up his confidence in the car as the weeks have gone on.
First I had him travel home with Hugo a super friendly and sociable Beagle who is used to traveling along aside other dogs which went great.
Then I picked out who he was pairing off with frequently on walks and had him travel home with Jess the labrador.
He’s used to all of this now and is happy to be around any of his mates and sees the car as just another fun part of his time out with us😁
Well done Bear, you are a superstar!
Ash’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved wonderpup of 2024 goes to Elvis! Elvis has always been a good boy but coming out on group walks I’ve noticed little subtle changes that show me the wonders of socialising our doggos with others. Elvis used to need to be crated alone in the van as he was unsure and nervous of travelling with others and would sometimes get a little feisty. He’s the happiest and most chilled boy now when travelling and hops right in with anyone as he’s so excited to see his friends and get on his walks. He has also developed some beautiful friendships with the other pooches. Particularly Max whom he adores. They play and I would ever go as far as to say banter one another it’s hilarious to watch. Elvis has had an exceptional year and made me so proud. Well done Elvis
Tanya’s Most Improved Wonderpup of 2024

My most improved pup of the year has to go to Toby woby!! Toby came out to play with me on group walks a year ago. He was always a good boy, however being a typical beagle, he was hard of hearing, loved to follow his nose. He had me calling his name serval times, and I had him on the longest of long lines. However, as time has gone on, his long line became a short dropped lead, and he answers on the third call 😜. I now trust him and know that he is always there and he’s having a great time. Well done Toby, I’m very proud of you 😘
